Claybord is a museum quality panel coated with an absorbent clay ground. The surface is additive and subtractive. I paint with gouache, an opaque flat drying water medium. The paint is made using pigment mixed with distilled water and bound with gum Arabic with the addition of chalk, which gives it an opaque quality and mat appearance upon drying. My tools range from paper towels to toothpicks. The surface may be etched with sandpaper, dental tool or woodworking tools to really anything that will gouge the surface.
